Marion L. Gilmer (December 15, 1895-March 3, 1984)
Matriarch Mrs. Marion L. Gilmer, born December 15, 1895, left this earth to be with the Lord on March 3, 1984. Mother was the first daughter of the late William P. Jones and Alberta Sears of Buckingham County, Virginia. She was educated in the Fayette County Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Edmond, WV. She was united in holy matrimony to Dennis V. Gilmer, Sr., and to this upon was born eight children. Throughout her adult years, Mom always encouraged her children and youth in the community to pursue the highest education attainable. Her sincere dedication towards this goal won her the respect and admiration of all within the community. She was an employee at West Virginia State College for over 25 years and a charter member of the Institute Nazarene Church--where she played a leading role in the beginning history of the church. And as a faithful worker, she served as Sunday school teacher, Church Treasurer, Trustee, Stewardess, and Chairman of the Usher Board.
